Spicy Thai Beef with Basil

Spicy Thai Beef with Basil

This is one recipe my men ask for over and over again.  When the chiles and peppers hit the hot, garlic infused oil, the aroma is divine. The basil added at the end gives so much depth and freshness to this dish.  I like to serve it over brown, jasmine rice.

  • 2 Tbsp fish sauce
  • 2 Tbsp Tamari sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Coconut sugar
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 3 red jalapeno chiles, seeded and sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 pound grass fed ground sirloin, or ground turkey
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves shredded

Combine fish sauce, tamari and sugar in a small bowl and set aside. Heat a cast iron skillet or wok over medium-high heat.  Add oil and heat then add the garlic, chiles and peppers.  Cook for 3-4 minutes.  Pour mixture into a bowl and set aside.  Add meat to skillet and cook, breaking it up, until cooked.  Drain off the fat.  Add the sauce mixture and cook for 1 minute, then add the chiles, peppers and basil and stir to combine.  Enjoy!
